More Finishing Off

Just some more photos of the finishing off.

Finishing Off

The Electricians, Plumbers, Floor Layer, and the painters have all been hard at it over this past week trying to get this house finished. We have a disastrous time with the floor layer, $10,000 worth of hardwood timber flooring has been layed by an absolute amateur, but to the carpet place where we got our flooring from, have honoured the contract and got another layer in to finish all of the errors that were made. With a bit of luck we should be in the house in a week or so.

A Place for the Brown Stuff

Problem #2 (Not too bad so far), How to fit the septic system tank into a hole that contains more Rock then an episode of The Flintstones. So in comes the big guns, a 12 tonne rock breaker spent 6 hours breaking the rock and digging an enormous hole to fit the tank. The final product isn't too bad, except the huge pile of rock left over. Good thing the neighbor wants it to do some retaining with.

Driveway and Paths Finished

The Toowoomba weather has turned perfect again today, so the boys were back at it again finishing off the concreting for us. They have done an A1 job. A charcoal grey with a cobblestone edge.

Now the Concreters turn.

As they did with our slab, The boys from Mick Suttons Concreting have done an absolutely excellent job on the driveways and paths. The front is finished and the side and rear will be poured next week.

A Grinding Halt

Well with 10 weeks of perfect weather it had to happen. It hasn't rained any more than 200mm in Toowoomba for months, and in three days we had 320mm. This has put us a few days behind, but we are still looking around the 7 - 10 July a s our move in date.

Getting Ready to Paint

The painters have been in to mask up all of the cupboards, floors and windows to get ready to spray the undercoat. They have been fighting with the plasterers to get the cornice finished in time, and thier persistence paid off. We are a flat mid beige on the walls, with a 1/4 sahde on the ceilings instead of the old Ceiling white.

TILES

Friday 29th May. The tilers started working on getting our bare concret floors covered with some tiles. They asked to meet one of us at the site at 7am to discuss where we wanted our tiles....so surprise surprise Rachel wanted to go down to see the "Tradies"...and from all accounts from Rachel, she wasnt disapointed. The boys will be back next week to grout the tiles...will have to make sure she is at work.

BLOKES WORLD - The Shed Part 1

The Guys at Precision Steel Frames came up with the best quote for our 6m x 12m shed. We have a 2 bay car port (6x6m) and a 6 x 6m storage (I mean beer drinking area). These photos show the first the first day of construction. Thanks to Jason Spies (The Shed Builder) and the guys at Goombungee Concreting for the work so far. Hoepfully some time next week we will have a place to put the landscaping equipment.

Cannot get inside - So lets start outside

21st May - We decided that we would start to plant some shrubs outside and get some tube stock established in the garden ready for our move into the house. We ordered some Pittosporum tenuifolium "Silver Sheen" tube stock from Fernview Nurseries in Melbourne. The stock was packaged and sent via Aust Post and arrived in great condition. We got our mate Davo from Davos Bob Cat hire in Highfields to dig a trench to loosen up some soil to help the roots sprout and secure them in the ground. Brought 30m of poly pipe and some drippers for watering once the tank and pump are hooked up. We are very happy with the outcome.
